The year 2004 has seen a dramatic
change in the closed cell sponge rubber and plastic foam industry.
There has been not only consolidation in the number of suppliers,
but also significant raw material price increases. Additionally,
raw material shortages are starting to occur. We want to assure our customers that Monmouth Rubber
& Plastics Corp. has a strong supplier base for raw materials
and that we are committed to serving our customers with the
highest quality products at the lowest possible prices without
interruption.
To accomplish this, MRPC is investing several million
dollars in plant and equipment to meet the challenges of today’s global competitive
marketplace. These investments include:
- An additional manufacturing location, the location of which is still to be determined,
which will incorporate world scale state-of-the-art production capacity.
- An upgrade and addition to our state-of-the-art internal mixing capacity (Completed).
- A significant increase in press capacity (Completed).
- Additional energy efficient ovens (In the process of being installed).
- Additional state-of-the-art splitting capacity for thin gauge, 300+ ft. long rolls (In
the process of being installed – Operational late January 2005).
- Upgrades to make our factory more energy efficient and minimize handling.
MRPC sees the above changes in business conditions as business opportunities for
ourselves and the customers we serve. The lowest cost producers selling directly to
fabricators, gasket cutters and resellers will offer maximum value to the customers they
